JPMorgan’s third-quarter filing reports $15.3 billion in net income and $5.57 per share. Investment-banking fees rose 14% from a year earlier but fell 8% from the preceding quarter. Credit costs were $2.7 billion.
Those comparisons matter: a business can grow from last year while losing momentum from the prior quarter. Before treating one earnings headline as a verdict on the banks, compare loan growth, credit costs and management’s outlook.
Schwab’s 9:17 a.m. ET briefing described a mixed start, pressure on memory-chip shares and lower Treasury yields. That is an opening-session report, not a current midday quote. Watch whether weakness stays concentrated in chips or spreads to other sectors.
Yesterday’s wins, without rewriting the calendar.
CCCC: October 5, $3.02 → October 12, $3.20 (+5.96%).
DXC: September 14, $12.02 → October 12, $12.74 (+5.99%).
The public log still showed October 12 as its latest update when checked today. Inspect the complete closed-alert record, rather than judging it by selected winners alone.
The inflation test arrives at 8:30 a.m. ET.
The BLS calendar schedules September CPI for 8:30 a.m. ET. The numbers are not known yet. Compare headline and core inflation, then watch Treasury yields and the breadth of the stock-market response. A favorable first move can still fade.
Before the release, mark the previous trading session’s high, low and close on a chart you already follow. After the opening range forms, note whether price holds outside it or returns inside. Write down what would invalidate your idea before deciding whether to trade.
