Stocks were flat early Monday while U.S. bond trading was closed for the holiday, according to Schwab’s 9:16 a.m. ET briefing. Oil rose. This is an opening-session observation, not a live midday quote.
For you, the useful distinction is between a calm tape and a settled outlook. Tomorrow’s bank results and Wednesday’s inflation release still have to arrive. Without a normal Treasury session today, watch how stock-market leadership holds up when bonds resume trading.

Read the bank’s outlook, not just its profit.
JPMorgan reports Tuesday, October 13, with results expected around 7 a.m. ET and its call at 8:30 a.m. Look at provisions for credit losses, loan demand and interest-income guidance. A profit beat can coexist with a weaker outlook.
September CPI arrives Wednesday, October 14, at 8:30 a.m. ET. Its contents are not known yet. The core reading and the subsequent Treasury-yield response will help test whether today’s calm lasts.

Choose one stock or index you already follow. Mark the previous trading session’s high, low and close. Note whether the next move holds above that range or slips back inside it. That gives you a price test you can check after the news, rather than a story you change to fit the chart.
