Today brings a different test: September inflation rose 0.6% for the month, with gasoline responsible for more than half the increase. The distinction between an energy shock and broader inflation matters for interest rates—and the shares you follow.

The BLS September CPI report, released today at 8:30 a.m. ET, shows headline inflation at 3.7% over the past year, up from 3.4% in August. Gasoline rose 9.1% for the month; shelter rose 0.4%.
Excluding food and energy, prices increased 0.3% for the month and 2.6% over the year. The annual core rate was 2.4% in August. That leaves more to examine than the gasoline headline alone.
Schwab’s 9:11 a.m. ET briefing reported stocks giving back pre-release gains and the two-year Treasury yield rising more than 10 basis points to 4.89%. Those are early-session observations, not live midday quotes. Watch whether yields stay elevated and whether selling broadens beyond a few large stocks.
ARHS: a documented +32.17% move.
ARHS: September 17, $7.43 → October 7, 2026, $9.82 (+32.17%).

Watch what price does after the headline.
A sharp first move does not settle the day’s direction. Mark the previous trading session’s high, low and close, then observe whether price holds beyond the opening range or returns inside it. Decide where your idea fails before committing money.
See how the $7 workshop organizes reference prices and the session clock. The guides support preparation; they do not guarantee a profitable trade.
Next: September producer-price data arrive Thursday, October 15, at 8:30 a.m. ET. We’ll examine whether that report reinforces today’s consumer-price picture.
