Stronger output. Uneven leadership.
US industrial production rose 0.7% in September. Today’s Federal Reserve report adds evidence of industrial growth—but the increase was not evenly spread. Manufacturing rose 0.3%, while utilities jumped 3.5%.
The stock market is uneven, too. Schwab’s October 16 morning briefing described improving breadth alongside weakness in large AI-related stocks. That is an opening-session assessment, not a live midday quote. For your watchlist, check the individual chart before treating an index move as a verdict on every holding.

[Get the workshop and both printable chart guides—$7 once]SMCX: a documented +86.82% close.
August 7, 2026: $8.65 → October 7, 2026: $16.16. The public log records +86.82% for this selected, previously closed SMCX alert. This is a historical result, not a new close today.

Study material, not a promise. This selected winner is not a typical result or an account return, and was not produced by the workshop. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
To distinguish an alert’s documented price move from a return in your own account, our guide explains how to read a trade alert using its individual fields.
Separate the factory story from the utility surge.
Capacity utilization reached 76.9%, still below its long-run average. Total production was 2.2% above a year earlier. The headline therefore shows growth without establishing that the whole industrial economy is operating at full stretch.
If you own manufacturers, compare company orders and margin commentary with the manufacturing figure. A utility-driven jump in total output is not evidence that every factory’s demand improved by the same amount.
The latest listed winner remains VERX +3.99%.
October 1, 2026: $12.28 → October 13, 2026: $12.77. That VERX result was already covered; today’s log check does not establish another newly closed winner.
The latest closed row remains HTZ, October 2–14: $1.79 → $1.79 (+0.00%), labeled LOSS in the log. Read the full record, including the rows that did not advance. These are documented alert price moves, not portfolio returns.
Compare like with like before you commit.
For a stock on your watchlist, compare its direction with both its sector and the broad market. A stock holding up while its sector weakens tells a different story from a stock merely rising with everything else. Neither observation is an entry signal on its own.
Write down the time of that comparison. An opening move and an afternoon move can leave very different charts. See how the workshop organizes the session clock and daily price map.
Keep the observation separate from the decision.
Into Friday’s close, watch whether strength extends beyond the largest names and whether the stocks you follow hold their own session ranges. Those are questions to observe, not forecasts of Monday’s direction.
$7 once buys the workshop, both guides and lifetime access. The regular price is $49. All sales final.
[See the chart references included in the $7 workshop]Optional Sanctum is separate: $1 for 14 days, then $49/month until canceled. The workshop itself does not renew.
