Overnight Tone

Futures carried a constructive tone into Thursday following Wednesday's FOMC Minutes release, which kept the tape relatively contained. VIX edged higher from 14.89 to 15.15, signaling a modest uptick in hedging demand without signaling stress. European and Asian sessions were orderly, with no material dislocations heading into the U.S. open.

Pre-Market Levels

SPY last printed 769.06 against a prior close of 767.45, a gain of approximately 0.21%. That narrow advance keeps the tape in a low-volatility drift posture. VIX at 15.15 remains well within a complacent range, suggesting options premiums are not pricing significant event risk into today's session.

Calendar Watch

Philly Fed Manufacturing Index (forecast 24.1, prior 41.4) at 08:30 ET; Unemployment Claims (forecast 210K, prior 209K) at 08:30 ET; CB Leading Index m/m (forecast 0.1%, prior -0.2%) at 10:00 ET.

Read for the Open

The 08:30 ET window is the primary focus: Philly Fed consensus calls for a notable drop to 24.1 from 41.4, a wide expected decline that could generate a sharp initial reaction in index futures. Claims at 210K versus a prior 209K is nearly flat and unlikely to move the tape independently. Watch how the first 30 minutes absorbs the Philly Fed print before drawing conclusions on intraday structure.
